Expense Reimbursement Plans have been identified by several names, including MERPs, Section 105 plans, personal care accounts, and many others. These HRA Plans can reimburse medical, dental, vision and individual insurance premium expenses to employees tax-free which are provided by the employer and paid through the HRA arrangement. Essentially an HRA is a promise by the employer to pay for defined medical, health, prescription drugs, and/or dental expenses in conjunction with a high deductible health insurance contract. Employers usually give their employees a set amount of dollars each year to spend as they so elect.
